Binorum Optima 45° 1.25″ Amici Erecting Prism
High-quality 45° Amici erecting prism providing both laterally and vertically correct image orientation for terrestrial (land-based) observations. With 1.25″ (31.75mm) input and output, it offers universal compatibility with most astronomical eyepieces and refractors.
Correctly Oriented Image for Comfortable Viewing
Unlike standard star diagonals or mirrors that provide mirror-reversed or inverted images, the Amici prism produces a completely correctly oriented image - identical to what you see with the naked eye. This characteristic makes the Amici prism ideal accessory for terrestrial observations of nature, birds, landscapes, or architecture using telescopes.
The optical construction of the Amici prism combines reflective surfaces with refractive optics to simultaneously rotate the image 90° (for comfortable viewing) while also erecting it to the correct orientation. The result is a natural, uncomplicated view where object movements in the field of view correspond to actual movements - if a bird moves left, it also moves left in the eyepiece.
Telescope Compatibility
The prism is suitable for both refractors and catadioptric systems (Schmidt-Cassegrain, Maksutov-Cassegrain). With these telescope types, the Amici prism provides ergonomic 45° viewing with natural image orientation, which is particularly appreciated during extended observing sessions.
The prism is not suitable for use with Newtonian reflector systems, due to limited focus travel - Newtonian telescopes typically do not have sufficient in-focus range for use with an Amici prism.
Quality Optical Processing
The Binorum Optima Amici prism is manufactured from quality optical glass with precision reflective surfaces and anti-reflection coatings that minimize light loss and ensure bright, high-contrast images. The robust metal body protects the sensitive optics and provides reliable attachment to the telescope focuser.
The standard 1.25″ diameter ensures compatibility with common eyepieces and telescope focusers. The prism can also be combined with 1.25″ threaded filters for further enhancement of terrestrial observations.
Ideal for Daytime Observation
The Amici prism extends the use of your astronomical telescope to daytime hours, when you can use it as powerful observation optics for viewing nature, sports, or landscapes. The combination of correct image orientation with the comfortable 45° viewing angle provides a user-friendly experience comparable to terrestrial spotting scopes.
