Bresser Professional 5-in-1 256 Colour Weather Station
The Bresser Professional 256 Colour weather station adds a genuinely useful twist to the well-established 5-in-1 sensor format: the display automatically changes colour in real time to reflect the current outdoor temperature. A single glance at the unit tells you whether it is cold, cool, mild or warm outside - no need to read a number. The display cycles through 256 colours in automatic mode, shifting through the spectrum from cool blues and greens at low temperatures to warm yellows, oranges and reds as the temperature rises. Eight colours can also be set manually for personal preference. It is a small but practical innovation that makes the station immediately more intuitive to use for the whole household.
5-in-1 outdoor sensor
The included multifunctional outdoor sensor measures five parameters from a single compact unit: wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, relative humidity and rainfall. All five values are transmitted wirelessly to the base station on 868 MHz with a range of up to 150 metres - sufficient for most residential properties even through multiple walls. The sensor mounts on any round pole or tube with a diameter between 25 and 33 mm using the included bracket, screws and desk stand, so installation requires no special tools or skills.
Wind speed and direction data allows the station to calculate wind chill - the perceived temperature accounting for the cooling effect of moving air - which is often more relevant for dressing decisions than the raw thermometer reading. Rainfall is recorded with daily, weekly and monthly cumulative totals, giving a useful overview of precipitation trends over time.
Display and weather forecasting
The 14.5 cm diagonal colour BTN display shows current indoor and outdoor values alongside historical data stored internally for up to 24 hours. Atmospheric pressure trend over the preceding 24 hours forms the basis for a locally calculated 12-hour weather forecast displayed as one of six graphic icons - sunny, partly cloudy, overcast, rain, thunderstorms or snow. A locally derived pressure-trend forecast is frequently more accurate for your specific location than generic regional forecasts, as it responds directly to conditions at your home.
Calculated comfort parameters - heat index and dew point - are displayed alongside measured values. Heat index combines temperature and humidity to show how conditions actually feel in warm and humid weather, while dew point is a reliable indicator of moisture content in the air and condensation risk.
Alerts and indoor climate monitoring
Individual minimum and maximum threshold alerts can be configured for any measured parameter. When a limit is reached the station signals both audibly and visually via LED indication. A dedicated frost and freeze alert activates when outdoor temperature drops below -3 °C, giving timely warning to protect vehicles, plants and outdoor water systems before damage occurs.
An indoor climate comfort icon monitors the combination of indoor temperature and humidity and provides a simple visual indication of whether conditions fall within a healthy range. This feature is particularly valuable in homes with children, elderly occupants or anyone with asthma or respiratory conditions, where maintaining relative humidity between 40% and 60% has a direct impact on comfort and health. When the icon signals poor indoor climate, opening a window or running a humidifier for a short period typically resolves the issue.
Radio-controlled clock and alarm
The station receives the DCF77 radio time signal and synchronises the clock, calendar and day of week automatically within a few minutes of being switched on. Central European time and daylight saving transitions are applied automatically - no manual adjustment is ever needed. An alarm clock with snooze function is included for everyday use.
Installation
The base station can be placed on a desk or shelf using the included stand, or mounted on a wall. The outdoor sensor attaches to poles between 25 and 33 mm in diameter - a standard garden fence post, balcony railing or dedicated mounting mast all work well. For best results the sensor should be positioned in an open location clear of walls and roof overhangs, at a height of approximately 1.5 to 2 metres above ground level, where it will receive accurate wind and rainfall readings unaffected by local obstructions.
