WBGT and heat stress index - safety in hot conditions

One of the most distinctive features of the MeteoTemp JW is its measurement of the WBGT index - Wet Bulb Globe Temperature. WBGT is a comprehensive heat stress indicator that combines air temperature, humidity, solar radiation and wind speed into a single number expressing the actual thermal load on the human body. It is the standard measure used in professional sport, the military and industry to assess the risk of heat-related illness during physical activity or outdoor work.

The station displays four heat stress warning levels that clearly indicate what precautions are appropriate under current conditions - from normal activity through increased caution and reduced physical exertion to warnings of serious overheating risk. For athletes, gardeners, parents with young children and elderly users, this is information with a direct impact on health and safety.

8-in-1 outdoor sensor - complete meteorological data from one source

The outdoor sensor measures eight parameters simultaneously and transmits them to the base station at a range of up to 150 metres. The robust weatherproof construction ensures reliable operation in all weather conditions. The sensor is powered by three AA batteries and requires no mains connection.

Wind speed is displayed both numerically and on the Beaufort scale. Wind direction is sensed by an anemometer and shown as a compass bearing. UV radiation and light intensity add information relevant to planning outdoor activities and sun protection. Rainfall is recorded with hourly, daily, weekly and monthly accumulation totals. Atmospheric pressure, measured by the integrated barometer in the base station, provides the basis for calculating a locally derived 12 to 24-hour weather forecast.

The MeteoTemp JW goes beyond presenting raw measured data - it automatically calculates a range of derived values with direct practical relevance:

• Dew point - the temperature at which air becomes saturated and condensation begins

The 12 to 24-hour graphic weather forecast is derived from the atmospheric pressure trend measured directly at the station's location, making it more accurate for your specific area than general regional forecasts.

WiFi connectivity and data sharing

The built-in WiFi module connects the station to your home network and enables automatic internet time synchronisation - no manual setting or DCF radio signal required. It simultaneously enables data sharing with three leading international weather platforms: Weather Underground, Weathercloud and ProWeatherLive, for which a three-year membership is included in the package.

Contributing to these networks gives you access to your own data from anywhere in the world via a web browser, while also adding your measurements to a global network of personal weather stations. The station additionally supports the WSLink-App protocol for integration with smart home systems and third-party weather applications.

10-inch display and alerts

The base station features a large 10-inch (25.4 cm) display presenting all key values simultaneously - outdoor and indoor measurements, forecast, pressure, time, date and moon phase. Sunrise and sunset times are calculated based on your geographical location. An indoor climate indicator monitors the combination of indoor temperature and humidity and provides a graphical comfort assessment of room conditions.

Individually configurable high and low threshold alerts trigger an alarm when any set limit is exceeded. The alarm clock includes a dedicated frost warning that activates automatically when outdoor temperature approaches freezing. A 24-hour hourly data history and min/max value memory allow review of how conditions have developed over time.

Expandability

The standard configuration with one 8-in-1 outdoor sensor covers the needs of most users.
