The Bresser VentAir Wide is a compact indoor/outdoor thermometer and hygrometer with a practical feature that sets it apart from conventional climate monitors - a built-in ventilation recommendation that tells you when to open a window based on current indoor and outdoor conditions. The touch-controlled display shows indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity at a glance, and the white backlight activates instantly with a light touch on the upper part of the frame. The unit is straightforward to operate, has no complex menus and is ready to use within minutes of inserting batteries.

Ventilation recommendation - healthy air made simple

Knowing when to ventilate is not always intuitive. Opening windows when outdoor air is warmer and more humid than the air inside can actually worsen conditions and increase the risk of condensation and mould. The VentAir Wide solves this by continuously comparing indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity and displaying a clear recommendation - whether ventilating at the current moment will improve or worsen the indoor climate.

This function is particularly valuable for mould prevention. Mould requires a combination of sufficient moisture, moderate temperatures and poor air circulation to establish itself. Walls and corners in bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens are common problem areas, especially in autumn and winter when ventilation is reduced. By following the ventilation recommendation, you replace stale, moist indoor air with drier outdoor air when conditions are favourable, keeping relative humidity within the healthy range of approximately 40-60% and preventing the conditions mould needs to grow. At the same time, the display alerts you when indoor air is becoming too dry - relevant for comfort, respiratory health and the condition of wooden furniture and floors during the heating season.

Indoor and outdoor monitoring

The base station measures indoor temperature and humidity directly. The included wireless sensor extends monitoring to any outdoor or indoor location within 80 metres, transmitting data on 433 MHz. The sensor carries IP44 certification for protection against water splashing from any direction, making it fully suitable for exposed outdoor positions on a balcony, garden fence or wall without the need for additional sheltering. Up to three sensors can be connected to the base station simultaneously - additional sensors are available separately (Bresser code 7009985), allowing monitoring of multiple locations such as a greenhouse, garage, cellar or additional rooms.

Minimum and maximum values for both temperature and humidity are stored in memory and can be recalled at any time, giving a useful overview of how conditions have varied since the last reset. This is particularly helpful for identifying rooms or time periods when humidity regularly exceeds safe levels.

Display and controls

The 14.6 cm diagonal display shows indoor and outdoor temperature, indoor and outdoor humidity and current time in a clear layout with large 1.8 cm digits. A touch-activated white backlight illuminates the display on demand for comfortable reading in dim conditions - touching the upper part of the frame activates the light briefly without requiring the user to locate a small button in the dark. The display can be placed on a flat surface using the integrated desk stand built into the rear of the unit, or hung on a wall using the integrated wall mount. No separate stand or bracket is needed.
