Bresser moon filter for 1″ eyepieces

If you have ever pointed a telescope at a full moon and immediately looked away because of the blinding brightness, you already know exactly why a moon filter is one of the first accessories every observer should own. The Bresser moon filter for 1″ eyepieces is an elegant and affordable solution that transforms an uncomfortable experience of an overexposed lunar disc into a detailed, high-contrast view of the surface of our nearest neighbour in space.

Why a moon filter makes a difference

The moon is a surprisingly bright object when viewed through a telescope - its reflectivity combined with the aperture of the instrument can easily overwhelm the sensitivity of the eye and even the most capable eyepiece. A neutral grey filter transmits only a portion of the incoming light, reducing the overall brightness of the image without distorting colours. The result is significantly better visibility of craters, mountain ranges, lunar seas and other surface features, because the eye is no longer forced to adapt to excessive brightness and can make full use of its resolving potential.

The effect is most noticeable when observing near the terminator, where oblique lighting reveals even the finest terrain details.

Compatibility and mounting

The filter is designed for eyepieces with the standard 1″ (25.4 mm) diameter and is primarily intended as an accessory for telescopes in the BRESSER Junior range. It attaches via a screw thread directly into the bottom of the eyepiece barrel - this is an industry-standard connection, so mounting is quick, requires no tools, and the filter stays firmly in place even when handling the eyepiece. The robust filter frame ensures long-term resistance to scratches and deformation.

Important note before ordering

Please measure the inner diameter of the eyepiece connection on your telescope before placing an order. Although the 1″ standard is very widespread, some older or unbranded instruments may use non-standard dimensions and the filter may not fit.

Who is this filter for?

  • Beginners and young astronomers discovering the night sky through BRESSER Junior telescopes
  • Parents and educators who want to make lunar observation accessible to children without the risk of uncomfortable glare
  • More experienced observers looking for a fundamental addition to their visual filter set for observing the moon and planets
