Omegon LE Planetary 9mm 55° 1.25″
Looking for an eyepiece that shows you planetary details without compromise? The Omegon LE Planetary 9mm is designed precisely for this purpose. It is a high-performance planetary eyepiece that, thanks to its optical quality and well-thought-out construction, clearly exceeds the standard for its price range. Whether you are a beginner astronomer or an experienced observer, this eyepiece will pleasantly surprise you with the sharpness and contrast of the image.
Optical construction
The LE Planetary 9mm consists of seven optical elements arranged in four groups - the same as almost the entire LE Planetary series (the only exception being the 18mm model). All lenses have blackened edges, which eliminate unwanted light scatter, and are coated with multi-layer FMC anti-reflection coating. The result is an exceptionally sharp and high-contrast image with excellent colour rendering. The image remains sharp and distortion-free even at the very edges of the field of view - even when used with simpler telescopes that can easily fool other eyepieces.
Key optical features
- 7 optical elements in 4 groups
- Blackened lens edges to reduce internal reflections
- Full multi-coating (FMC) on all air-to-glass surfaces
- Sharp, distortion-free image across the entire field of view
Comfort and usability
With a 55° field of view, this eyepiece offers a pleasantly spacious view that will be especially appreciated by observers accustomed to a wider perspective. A major practical advantage is the exit pupil positioned at a distance of 20mm from the top lens. This means that people who wear corrective glasses can observe comfortably without having to remove them - the eye maintains its natural position and the observing comfort is comparable to viewing without glasses. The generous eye relief is also appreciated by observers who, for any reason, hold their eye further from the eyepiece.
Another significant advantage is the absence of the so-called kidney bean effect - an unpleasant phenomenon where, when moving the eye towards the edge of the field of view, part of the image blacks out. With the LE Planetary 9mm this phenomenon does not occur, so there is no need to maintain a precise optical axis. The view remains stable even with slight movement of the eye, which significantly reduces fatigue during longer observing sessions.
Comfort features at a glance
- 55° apparent field of view
- 20mm eye relief - comfortable use with spectacles
- No kidney bean effect
- Reduced eye fatigue during extended sessions
Part of the LE Planetary series
