Artesky UltraGuide MKII 32/120 Finderscope and Guidescope T2 1.25″
Precise Guiding for Sharp Astrophotography
Long-exposure astrophotography demands accurate mount tracking. Even the best equatorial mounts have small periodic errors - and at long exposures, these errors appear as blurred or trailed stars. The Artesky UltraGuide MKII guidescope continuously corrects these errors and keeps your images sharp and detailed, even during exposures lasting tens of minutes. This compact instrument serves two purposes at once: it works as a high-quality finderscope and as a reliable guidescope for astrophotography.
Fast Optics for Faint Guide Stars
The UltraGuide MKII has a 32mm aperture and a 120mm focal length, giving a fast focal ratio of f/4. This makes it very sensitive to light, so it can pick up faint stars as reference points for guiding. Multi-layer anti-reflection coatings on all optical surfaces maximise light transmission and reduce unwanted reflections.
These specifications make it an excellent guide scope for short to medium focal lengths - for example, 80/600 APO refractors or 150/750 Newton telescopes.
Flexible Connection Options
The 1.25″ focuser lets you use the UltraGuide MKII with guide cameras or with standard 1.25″ eyepieces as a regular finderscope. The T2 thread on the rear of the tube is compatible with the vast majority of guide cameras available today, including popular models from QHY, ZWO, and Omegon GUIDE.
The back-focus distance is designed to give a comfortable focusing position with both eyepieces and most guide cameras - with no need for reduction rings or adapters. The focuser mechanism is mechanically rigid and eliminates any unwanted play that could affect guiding accuracy.
Complete Mounting System Included
The Artesky UltraGuide MKII comes with everything you need for quick and secure installation:
- Ring clamp bracket with three nylon-tipped screws to protect the tube from damage
- Short Mini-Vixen dovetail bar for fitting into a standard finderscope shoe (Vixen profile), found on most amateur telescopes
- Option to mount the whole assembly using a dovetail clamp directly onto any Vixen or Losmandy bar on the mount or telescope tube
No additional adapters are required. The system is quick to attach and equally quick to remove.
Who Is This Guidescope For?
The UltraGuide MKII suits both beginners taking their first steps in autoguiding and more experienced astrophotographers who need a mechanically solid and accurate solution. The fast f/4 focal ratio makes it particularly well suited to telescopes with focal lengths up to 800mm, where a shorter guidescope is sufficient for reliable guiding.
At just 280g, it adds very little weight to your setup and does not affect the balance of your mount. If you are looking for one instrument that works as both a finderscope and a guidescope, the Artesky UltraGuide MKII is an excellent investment in your astrophotography kit.
