Delta Optical ED 2x 2″ Barlow lens
This 2x Barlow lens made from extra-low dispersion (ED) glass was produced by GSO exclusively for the Delta Optical brand. The use of ED glass provides significantly better correction of chromatic aberration compared to standard Barlow lenses. The result is a sharp, high-contrast image with minimal color fringing, even at high magnifications. This lens is a great choice for both visual observers of planets and the Moon, and for astrophotographers working with bright Solar System objects.
Design and construction
The lens body is precisely machined using CNC technology, which gives it a solid and clean finish. The lower part - containing the optical element - can be unscrewed from the body. By threading it directly into the filter thread of any 2″ eyepiece, you get a more compact assembly. The upper part of the body can then be used on its own as a 2″ extension adapter with a length of 39 mm - a practical feature that many Barlow lenses do not offer.
In addition, this lens is one of the few in its category that supports standard 2″ filter attachment. This is especially useful when observing planets with color or polarizing filters.
Delta Optical Barlow lens range
Delta Optical offers a wider family of Barlow lenses to suit different needs:
- Standard glass series - available in 2x, 2.5x and 5x magnification, all in 1.25″ format
- ED glass series - includes this 2x model in 2″ format, and a 3x variant in 1.25″ format
The Delta Optical ED 2x 2″ Barlow lens is a top choice for those who want the best optical quality in a larger format - whether working with 2″ eyepieces or 2″ cameras.
