Omegon Erecting Lens 1.25″ - Barlow erecting lens
If you find the inverted or mirror-flipped image in your telescope frustrating, the Omegon Erecting Lens is exactly what you need. This optical accessory combines two useful functions in one: it corrects the image to its natural orientation and at the same time extends the effective focal length of your telescope by 1.5x. The result is more comfortable visual observing and a practical option for afocal photography through your telescope.
How it works
Instead of standard lenses, the Omegon Erecting Lens uses a prism system that geometrically flips the image to the correct orientation. This is especially useful for terrestrial observing - nature, technical objects, or when navigating a star atlas where an intuitive, correctly oriented image is important. The 1.5x multiplication factor also slightly increases the magnification of any eyepiece without significantly reducing the brightness of the image.
Compatibility and connection options
Both the input and output are standard 1.25″ diameter, so the lens fits the focuser of most amateur telescopes without any problems. On the output side you will also find an external T2 thread (M42x0.75), which allows direct connection of photographic accessories - a camera via a T2 adapter, a CCD camera, or other components. This combination makes the Erecting Lens a useful tool for beginner astrophotographers as well.

Important note about focuser travel
Because the lens multiplies the focal length, it shifts the focal point outward from the telescope tube. This means that when focusing, you will need to push the focuser further inward than you normally would when using an eyepiece alone. On telescopes with a limited focuser travel range, it is possible that the focuser may not reach the required position and the image cannot be brought into sharp focus. We recommend checking whether your telescope has sufficient focuser travel before purchasing.
Who is this lens for?
- Observers who use their telescope for both astronomy and terrestrial observing, where correct image orientation is a practical necessity
- Anyone who wants a simple and affordable way to add photography capability to their telescope without buying more complex projection equipment
- Beginners in astrophotography who want to connect a camera to their telescope quickly and easily
- Users of various camera systems - the T2 thread is compatible with a wide range of adapters for different camera mounts
Summary
The Omegon Erecting Lens 1.25″ is a compact yet feature-rich telescope accessory that solves several needs at a reasonable price. If your telescope meets the focuser travel requirements, you get a reliable tool for both visual and photographic use.
