It is designed to transmit only the light of doubly ionized oxygen (O III) while blocking virtually everything else - the result is a dramatically increased contrast and visibility of objects that would otherwise blend into the background of the sky. How the OIII filter works Oxygen III emission occurs at two characteristic wavelengths - approximately 495.9 nm and 500.7 nm. These two spectral lines...

Binorum UHC 2 Ultra High Contrast Nebula Filter Binorum UHC 2″ Ultra High Contrast Nebula Filter The Essential Tool for Deep-Sky Observation The Binorum UHC 2″ filter stands as the most popular filter choice among amateur astronomers for observing planetary and emission nebulae. This specialized optical accessory transforms deep-sky observation by selectively enhancing the visibility of nebular structures while suppressing unwanted background light that diminishes contrast and obscures faint celestial details. Advanced Selective Wavelength Transmission The UHC (Ultra High Contrast) filter employs precision optical coatings engineered to transmit specific wavelengths critical to nebula observation - OIII (doubly ionized oxygen at 496nm and 501nm), H-alpha (656nm), and H-beta (486nm)...

Air Blower for Optics Air Blower for Optics The Essential Tool for Every Optical Instrument Owner An air blower for optics is a simple yet absolutely indispensable tool for anyone who works with sensitive optical equipment. Whether you are an astronomer, photographer, or naturalist, dust and tiny particles on optical surfaces are an everyday challenge. The blower allows you to quickly and gently remove dust, pollen, and fine particles from lenses, mirrors, and filters - without ever touching the optical surface. This is a critical advantage over wiping with a cloth, which can cause microscopic scratches that gradually degrade image quality. An air blower...

TeleVue 2x Powermate 2″ - Barlow lens

If you are looking for a way to double the focal length of your telescope without any compromise in image quality, the TeleVue Powermate 2x in 2″ size is exactly what you need. This is not an ordinary Barlow lens - the Powermate is a four-element optical system with a special design, built from the ground up to introduce no optical errors of its own into the light path.

Why Powermate is different from ordinary Barlow lenses

Standard Barlow lenses suffer to varying degrees from spherical aberration, coma, or field curvature. The TeleVue Powermate system uses four-element optics that reduce these problems to practically zero. The result is a sharp, high-contrast image all the way to the edge of the field of view - with no vignetting, no color fringing, and no blur at the edges.

This is especially appreciated by observers of planets and the Moon, who need to get maximum detail from their telescope at high magnification.

Fully multi-coated optics (FMC)

All optical surfaces are treated with fully multi-coated (FMC) anti-reflection coatings, which minimize light loss and unwanted reflections. The transmitted light remains as faithful to the original as possible, and contrast is preserved even under demanding observing conditions.

Compatible with both 2″ and 1.25″ eyepieces

The Powermate 2x 2″ has a 2″ input diameter, so it makes full use of the light cone even with wide-field eyepieces that have a large apparent field. The output diameter is also 2″, and a 1.25″ reducer is included, so you can easily use it with eyepieces of both standard sizes.

This makes the Powermate a universal tool for any observing setup - from compact refractors to large Newtonian reflectors or SCT telescopes.

Planetary astrophotography

Planetary astrophotography is another area where the Powermate excels. Thanks to its near-complete elimination of its own aberrations and its ability to maintain sharpness to the edges of the image, it is an ideal choice for users of planetary cameras. The exit pupil distance also allows comfortable mounting of a camera with a filter wheel, without any risk of vignetting.

A long-term investment in quality optics

The TeleVue Powermate 2x 2″ is recognized among astronomers as one of the optically finest focal extenders on the market. TeleVue has decades of experience developing premium astronomical optics, and the Powermate is a direct result of that expertise.

If you want to make sure that the weak point in your setup is not the focal extender but other factors - such as atmospheric seeing, or the quality of your telescope or eyepieces - then the Powermate is the right choice. It is an investment in optics that will serve you reliably no matter how your setup develops in the future.
