Bresser 8x42 Tobermory binoculars
Looking for a binocular that handles an early morning birdwatching walk just as well as an afternoon sports match or a day out in nature? The Bresser 8x42 Tobermory is designed precisely for those situations. 8x magnification combined with 42 mm objective lenses and fully multi-coated broadband optics delivers a bright, high-contrast, sharp image - in daylight as well as in difficult lighting conditions such as dusk or an overcast sky.
Optical system
At the heart of the Tobermory is an optical system built around BK-7 roof prisms with fully multi-coated broadband treatment applied to all optical surfaces. This results in excellent light transmission and minimizes unwanted reflections that would otherwise reduce image contrast.
The field of view of 105 m at 1,000 m is generously wide for an 8x42 class binocular, making it comfortable to follow moving subjects - whether birds in flight, wildlife in the forest, or players on a pitch. A close focus distance of just 4 m is especially appreciated by nature observers who can get very close to their subject.
Handling and ergonomics
The central focusing wheel provides fast, precise focusing without the need to adjust each eyepiece separately - a key advantage when following moving subjects. The diopter adjustment lets you fine-tune the optics to your individual eyesight. Individual eyepiece focusing is not supported, which simplifies the design and speeds up operation in the field.
TwistUp rotating eyecups are included as standard for eyeglass wearers - simply twist them down and the full field of view is maintained through spectacle lenses. The Tobermory also features an integrated tripod thread, which is useful during extended observation sessions, at concerts, or when using a higher-magnification adapter.
Build quality and durability
The body is rubber-armored, providing a secure grip even when wet and protecting the optics from knocks and impacts. The ergonomic shape sits comfortably in the hand and does not strain the hands or wrists during longer observation sessions.
Please note that the binocular is not nitrogen-purged and is not certified as waterproof - in extreme rain or very high humidity it is advisable to protect the unit accordingly. For standard field use - ornithology, hiking, sport, nature observation, or travel - the Tobermory is more than sufficiently robust. The package includes a practical carrying case and a shoulder strap, so the binocular is always ready to hand.
