Omegon Argus 12x50 Binoculars
Nature does not stop when the sun goes down. Nocturnal wildlife, star clusters rising above the horizon, nebulae in a dark sky - all of these require binoculars that gather as much light as possible. The Omegon Argus 12x50 binoculars are designed for exactly these moments. At dusk and in full darkness, they deliver a bright, neutral image with an exit pupil of 4.1 mm and a twilight factor of 24.4.
Robust body, comfortable to hold
Inside the rubber armour sits a magnesium alloy body. The result is binoculars that feel secure in your hands and do not tire your arms during long observing sessions. At 1,450 g and measuring 190 x 200 x 75 mm, the weight is very acceptable for this class of instrument and objective diameter. The rubber armour protects against knocks and gives a reliable grip even in wet conditions.
Waterproof and fog-proof
The binoculars are waterproof and nitrogen-filled. They handle rain and mist without any problem, and condensation cannot form inside the optics. The included protective case keeps them safe when you carry them into the field.
BaK-4 Porro prisms and multi-coated optics
BaK-4 glass Porro prisms deliver high light transmission and minimal scatter. Every optical surface carries a multi-layer anti-reflection coating that eliminates reflections and unwanted stray light. The result is a neutral, white colour rendering - no yellow tint, which is a common weakness of cheaper instruments. The optical system uses eight elements and is designed to keep the field of view sharp from centre to edge. The true field of view is 5.4 degrees, equivalent to 96 m at 1,000 m. The apparent field of view reaches 64.8 degrees.
Eyepieces, focusing and tripod compatibility
Fold-down eyecups let you use the binoculars comfortably whether you wear glasses or not. The interpupillary distance adjusts across a range of 56-70 mm. Focusing works independently on each eyepiece - a system known as single focusing - with dioptre adjustment on both sides. Once you have set the focus to match your eyes, you will not need to change it again when observing distant objects. The binoculars also include a tripod adapter thread, which is especially useful for astronomical observation at 12x magnification.
