Omegon Plössl 20mm 50° 1.25″ Eyepiece

Plössl eyepieces have been a favourite among amateur astronomers for decades - and for good reason. The four-element optical design is simple, well-thought-out, and delivers a bright, high-contrast image. The Omegon Plössl is also one of the most affordable eyepieces available, making it a great choice for any observer regardless of experience or budget.

A wider view of the sky

Compared to the standard eyepiece supplied with most telescopes, the Omegon Plössl offers not only better optical quality but also a wider 50° field of view. In practice, this means that many astronomical objects fit entirely within the view - with no need to constantly nudge the telescope back and forth. The result is a calmer, more comfortable observing session where you can focus on the object itself.

Works well even with fast telescopes

The Omegon Plössl maintains sharp edges across the field of view even on telescopes with a focal ratio of f/5. Much like with camera lenses, a lower f number means the telescope gathers more light and is considered faster - and f/5 telescopes are among the fastest available. Keeping stars sharp right to the edge at that speed is not easy. The Plössl handles it well.

Rubber eyecup for comfortable viewing

Every Omegon Plössl eyepiece comes fitted with a soft rubber eyecup. It blocks stray light from the sides, which would otherwise reduce contrast and strain your eye. The difference is most noticeable during longer observing sessions, where comfort matters as much as optical quality.

Build a complete eyepiece set

Omegon Plössl eyepieces are available in a range of focal lengths, so you can build a well-matched set with sensibly spaced magnifications. The quality of your eyepiece directly affects what your telescope can show you - it is the one part of your equipment that decides what you actually see.
