Air Blower for Optics Air Blower for Optics The Essential Tool for Every Optical Instrument Owner An air blower for optics is a simple yet absolutely indispensable tool for anyone who works with sensitive optical equipment. Whether you are an astronomer, photographer, or naturalist, dust and tiny particles on optical surfaces are an everyday challenge. The blower allows you to quickly and gently remove dust, pollen, and fine particles from lenses, mirrors, and filters - without ever touching the optical surface. This is a critical advantage over wiping with a cloth, which can cause microscopic scratches that gradually degrade image quality. An air blower...

TeleVue Panoptic 19mm 68° 1.25″ eyepiece

If you are looking for an eyepiece that opens a truly wide window to the universe without any compromise in image quality, you are in the right place. The TeleVue Panoptic 19mm is a legendary piece of optics that has earned the trust of astronomers around the world - and for very good reason. The Panoptic series from TeleVue represents a perfect combination of a wide field of view, excellent sharpness across the entire field, and comfortable observing. Twenty years of development and thousands of satisfied users speak for themselves.

Optical design and image quality

This eyepiece is built on a six-element SWA (Super Wide Angle) optical system, which provides an apparent field of view of 68°. This is a wide enough angle to deliver a fully immersive observing experience. TeleVue has made sure that the image remains sharp and free from significant aberrations practically all the way to the edge of the field. Multi-coating on all lens surfaces minimizes unwanted reflections and maximizes light transmission, so even faint deep-sky objects can be seen in their full detail. Exit pupil and chromatic aberration correction are at the level you would rightly expect from premium American optics.

Eye relief and comfort

The eye relief of 13mm is a comfortable value for a 19mm focal length eyepiece. Eyeglass wearers will appreciate the fold-down eyecup, which allows you to adjust the distance between your eye and the eyepiece without losing the edges of the field of view. The fold-down eyecup also makes it easy to switch quickly between observers who wear glasses and those who do not.

Practical features

Parfocal design

The Panoptic series is parfocal - when you switch between different Panoptic eyepieces, you do not need to refocus your telescope. This saves time, especially during group observing sessions or when you are changing magnification quickly.

Filter thread and compatibility

The eyepiece has a standard filter thread, so you can attach any 1.25″ filter directly - such as planetary, UHC, or OIII filters - without any additional adapter. The standard 1.25″ barrel fits the vast majority of telescopes available on the market.

What can you observe with it?

The Panoptic 19mm is a versatile choice for deep-sky observers - galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters - but it works equally well for wide-field views of the Moon or planets at lower magnifications. Here are some example magnifications depending on your telescope:

  • 1000mm focal length telescope - approximately 53x magnification
  • 1500mm focal length telescope - approximately 79x magnification

These values are ideal for large extended objects such as the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula, or the Pleiades. This eyepiece is a great choice both for beginners who want to see as much as possible from the very first session, and for experienced observers who are not willing to make any compromise on image quality.

About TeleVue

TeleVue is a brand that has been setting the standard in astronomical optics since 1977. The company was founded by Al Nagler, whose name is carried by the most prestigious eyepieces in the world. The entire philosophy of the company is built on one principle - optics must be good enough that nothing stands between the observer and the universe. Every TeleVue eyepiece goes through strict quality control and is manufactured in the USA with a focus on maximum optical performance. The Panoptic series represents an ideal balance between value, observing comfort, and image quality - a choice you will never regret.
