Whether you are an astronomer, photographer, or naturalist, dust and tiny particles on optical surfaces are an everyday challenge. The blower allows you to quickly and gently remove dust, pollen, and fine particles from lenses, mirrors, and filters - without ever touching the optical surface. This is a critical advantage over wiping with a cloth, which can cause microscopic scratches that gradually degrade image quality. An air blower...

TeleVue Panoptic 24mm 68° 1.25″ eyepiece

If you are looking for an eyepiece that opens up the universe in all its beauty, the Panoptic series from TeleVue is exactly what you need. The 24mm focal length model with a 68° apparent field of view is one of the most popular eyepieces in the series - it offers comfortable viewing, excellent optics, and a wide, immersive view that satisfies both beginners and experienced observers alike. The TeleVue Panoptic 24mm eyepiece is designed to give you the best possible visual experience during every observing session.

Optics and image quality

The eyepiece is built around a six-element SWA (Super Wide Angle) optical design, which delivers sharp and high-contrast images across the entire field of view. Multi-coating on all optical surfaces minimizes light loss caused by reflections and suppresses unwanted flare and ghost images - the result is a bright, richly colored picture with excellent contrast.

The 68° apparent field of view gives a pleasant feeling of "walking through space," while remaining moderate enough to avoid noticeable geometric distortion at the edges. This makes the Panoptic 24mm a great choice for observing large objects such as nebulae, open star clusters, or the Moon in its full glory.

Comfort and usability

The 15mm eye relief is generous enough for comfortable viewing, even for observers who wear glasses. The fold-down eyecup lets you quickly adapt the eyepiece to your situation - fold it down if you wear glasses, or keep it extended for a natural eye rest without glasses.

Other practical features include:

  • Standard 1.25″ filter thread - easily attach a lunar, UHC, or OIII filter without any special adapters
  • Parfocal design across the Panoptic series - switching between eyepieces of the same series usually requires little or no refocusing, which is very convenient when changing magnification during a session

Compatibility and performance

The standard 1.25″ barrel size ensures compatibility with the vast majority of telescopes on the market - refractors, Newtonians, Dobsonians, and catadioptric systems. When used with telescopes with a focal length of 1000-1500mm, the Panoptic 24mm delivers a comfortable magnification of approximately 40-60x, which is ideal for survey observations or finding deep-sky objects.

Why choose TeleVue Panoptic?

The TeleVue Panoptic series is the result of decades of experience in developing premium astronomical optics. Al Nagler and his team are synonymous with uncompromising quality and innovation in the astronomy community - and the Panoptic series fully lives up to that reputation.

At 232 g and 74mm in length, the eyepiece has very reasonable dimensions for its quality level, and will not put unnecessary strain on your focuser or upset the balance of your telescope tube.

If you want an eyepiece that will serve you reliably for years and bring real joy to every night under the stars, the Panoptic 24mm is an investment that pays off every single time you use it.
