Illuminated Double Crosshair

How to Align the Crosshair to Your Mount Axes

For the most accurate guiding, align one axis of the crosshair parallel to the right ascension axis and the other parallel to the declination axis. Here is how to do it:

1. Use the mount hand controller to drive a star slowly along the right ascension axis.
2. Rotate the eyepiece in the focuser barrel while watching the star move.
3. Stop rotating when the star travels exactly parallel to one of the crosshair lines.
4. Lock the eyepiece in place at that angle.

This simple one-time calibration lets you see instantly whether any drift during guiding is in right ascension or in declination. Corrections become faster and more precise, and the result is smoother, sharper astrophotography frames.
