Whether you are an astronomer, photographer, or naturalist, dust and tiny particles on optical surfaces are an everyday challenge. The blower allows you to quickly and gently remove dust, pollen, and fine particles from lenses, mirrors, and filters - without ever touching the optical surface. This is a critical advantage over wiping with a cloth, which can cause microscopic scratches that gradually degrade image quality. An air blower...

Omegon #11 1.25″ colour filter - green

Colour filters are among the simplest yet most effective tools a planetary observer can add to their accessories. The Omegon #11 green colour filter belongs to the Basic series and offers a solid optical foundation for both visual and photographic observation - all in a compact body with a 1.25″ thread that fits the vast majority of eyepieces and cameras on the market.

Construction and optical quality

The filter body is made from aluminium, ensuring low weight and resistance to corrosion. The optical element features multi-coating, which minimises unwanted reflections on the glass surface and allows light to pass through the filter with minimal losses outside the desired spectral band. The 1.25″ thread is a standard size, and the filter simply screws directly into an eyepiece barrel or a camera adapter.

What can you observe with the #11 green filter?

The green colour filter for planetary observation works on the principle of selective transmission - the green component of light passes through while contrasting colours are suppressed. This allows both the eye and a camera sensor to distinguish details that would otherwise merge into the overall brightness of a planet.

The green #11 filter is recommended primarily for observation of Saturn. Green light helps enhance the contrast of clouds and bands in the planet's atmosphere, and under good seeing conditions it contributes to a more clearly defined Cassini division in the rings. The filter is suitable for both visual use and photography, making it useful for visual observers as well as astrophotographers experimenting with planetary RGB image stacking.

Please note that this filter is not intended for light pollution reduction, nor for observation of the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, or for daytime or twilight observation. Its strength lies specifically in Saturn and targeted photographic applications.

About the Omegon brand

Omegon is an established European brand focused on accessible yet well-crafted astronomical optics and accessories. The Basic series filters are designed to deliver measurable benefits without an unnecessarily high price tag - multi-layer coating and an aluminium body are standards you do not always find in more affordable filters. The brand offers a wide range of products from eyepieces and mounts to complete filter sets, making it easy to build a full setup for both visual and photographic astronomy.
