Omegon solar filter 130mm

Do you want to observe the Sun without risking damage to your eyes or your telescope optics? The Omegon Solar filter for telescopes up to 130mm is exactly what you are looking for. This is a reliable objective filter from the Basic series. It fits directly in front of the lens or mirror of your telescope and blocks the vast majority of solar radiation before it enters the optical system.

This is an important difference compared to eyepiece filters - solar energy does not build up heat inside the instrument, so the whole system stays safe for both you and your telescope.

Design and fit

The filter is mounted in a sturdy frame made of durable synthetic material. The outer diameter of the frame is 150mm, which provides a stable fit on the telescope tube. The frame is designed to securely wrap around the front part of the tube with a diameter of up to 130mm, and it will not slide off during normal handling of the instrument.

This filter is compatible with a wide range of telescopes in this aperture class, including:

  • Refractors
  • Newtonian reflectors
  • Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes

Before every use, always check that the filter sits firmly and cannot come loose on its own - this is a basic rule of safe solar observation.

What can you observe?

With this filter you will be able to observe:

  • Sunspots
  • Faculae regions
  • Surface granulation

The level of detail you can see depends on the quality of your telescope and the current atmospheric stability (seeing). The filter works in white light, so the solar disk appears in a natural colour - ranging from white to a slightly bluish or yellowish tint, depending on the specific type of filter film used.

This is an ideal choice for:

  • Monitoring solar activity
  • Observing planetary transits
  • Regular photographic recording of the Sun

Safe solar observation with an objective filter like the Omegon Solar is suitable for both visual observation and astrophotography using shorter exposure times.

About the Omegon Solar Basic series

The Omegon Solar Basic filter is an affordable and functionally reliable entry point into the world of solar astronomy. Omegon has long developed astronomical accessories with a focus on practicality and reasonable pricing, without sacrificing the essential requirements for safety and optical quality.

This combination makes it a popular choice among:

  • Beginner astronomers
  • Observers who want a reliable backup filter for field use

If you are looking for a reliable way to safely point your telescope at our nearest star, the Omegon Solar 130mm is a practical and well-proven choice.
