Sky-Watcher solar filter (130mm)

Observing the Sun is one of the most fascinating areas of amateur astronomy - being able to watch sunspots, faculae, and granules on the surface of our star directly from your own garden is an experience that never gets old. To make this kind of observation not only comfortable but, above all, safe, a properly chosen solar filter is absolutely essential. The Sky-Watcher solar filter for telescopes with a 130mm aperture is exactly the solution you are looking for.

Compatibility

This filter is designed specifically for Sky-Watcher Newton reflectors with a primary mirror diameter of 130mm. It fits the following models:

  • Sky-Watcher 130/650 - focal length 650mm (f/5)
  • Sky-Watcher 130/900 - focal length 900mm (f/6.9)

The filter slides onto the front of the telescope tube, protecting the entire optical system and the observer's eye from harmful solar radiation before light enters the system. This approach is physically correct and safe - unlike eyepiece filters, which can crack due to concentrated heat.

What you can observe

The Sky-Watcher solar filter for 130mm Newton reflectors reduces the intensity of sunlight to a safe level while preserving sufficient resolution for detailed observation. With a 130mm aperture, your telescope offers a respectable resolving limit, allowing you to distinguish sunspots of various sizes, their penumbra and umbra, and - under good seeing conditions - the granulation of the photosphere. The filter is made from a proven material that transmits light in the visible spectrum while effectively blocking dangerous UV and IR radiation.

Safety guidelines

When observing the Sun, always follow these basic safety rules:

  • Always check that the filter is firmly seated and undamaged before use.
  • Never look through the telescope without the filter - not even for a fraction of a second.
  • Always cover or remove the finderscope to prevent accidental unprotected viewing.
  • The best conditions for observing the solar photosphere are typically in the morning, when atmospheric turbulence is still relatively low.

Easy to use

The filter can be easily removed and attached, making the switch between night and daytime observation a matter of seconds. Your Sky-Watcher 130mm telescope will gain an entirely new dimension of use - serving not only for nighttime adventures among the stars, but also for safe exploration of our nearest star in full daylight.

Original Sky-Watcher accessory

Original Sky-Watcher accessories are designed with precise knowledge of the mechanical tolerances of each telescope model from this manufacturer. The original Sky-Watcher solar filter therefore fits perfectly, will not slip off, and leaves no gaps through which unfiltered radiation could enter. Investing in a quality solar filter is an investment in the safety of you and your loved ones, as well as in years of comfortable solar observation.
