Why Your Camera Needs a UV/IR Cut Filter
CCD and DSLR cameras are sensitive to more than just visible light. They also pick up ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation. This extra sensitivity causes colour imbalances in your astrophotos - especially when you use a colour camera. The result is unnatural colour shifts and distortions that reduce the quality of your images.
