Bresser 10x42 Roof Waterproof monocular
Looking for compact optics that won't let you down in the rain or when observing shy wildlife from a distance? The Bresser 10x42 Roof Waterproof monocular offers an excellent balance of performance and practicality - it fits easily into a jacket pocket while delivering sharp and bright images thanks to its 42mm objective lens and quality Bk-7 borosilicate crown glass with multi-layer anti-reflective coating. Whether you are watching birds by a pond, hiking in the mountains or cheering at a sporting event, this monocular will always be ready.
Optical performance
10x magnification combined with a 42mm objective lens means that objects 1,000 metres away are brought optically to just 100 metres. A field of view of 101 m at 1,000 m is wide enough for tracking moving animals and for quick orientation in the field. Relative brightness of 17.6 and a twilight factor of 20.5 are solid values for daytime and lower-light conditions - you will appreciate them at dusk in the forest or under an overcast sky.
Bk-7 borosilicate crown glass with multi-layer anti-reflective coating (multi-coated) minimises stray reflections and improves image contrast. A minimum focusing distance of 3.5 m allows observation of fairly close objects, such as insects or plant details.
Build quality and portability
The monocular body is made of plastic with a rubberised surface in a green-black colour. The rubberised coating ensures a secure grip in wet and cold conditions and protects the optics from impacts. Dimensions of 160 x 85 x 54 mm and a weight of just 306 g (355 g including accessories) place this monocular firmly in the pocket optics category.
The waterproof construction withstands both light drizzle and heavier rain, so you don't need to worry about changing weather in the middle of a trip. The body is not nitrogen-purged, which is worth bearing in mind during extreme temperature changes, but for regular outdoor use this is not a limitation. A practical tripod thread will be appreciated during extended observation or digiscoping through the monocular.
TwistUp eyecup system
The TwistUp eyecup is one of the key advantages of this monocular. Simply twist it down to set the correct eye relief so that the full field of view is accessible even when wearing glasses. This feature is appreciated not only by spectacle wearers but also by users of sunglasses during spring and summer outings. The adjustment is smooth and holds firmly in the selected position.
