Omegon M48/T2 1.5 mm Adapter

This compact adapter solves one of the most common challenges in telescope astrophotography: connecting a 2-inch M48x0.75 filter thread to a T2 (M42x0.75) bayonet. The adapter has a male M48 thread on the input side and a female T2 thread on the output side. Simply screw it into your 2-inch accessory and connect your camera or another T2 adapter on the other side.

Ultra-thin design for precise back focus

The optical path length is just 1.5 mm. This means the adapter adds virtually no mechanical length to the optical train. It is the right choice wherever precise back focus matters - for example when using a field flattener or corrector, or when shooting directly without eyepiece projection.

Who is this adapter for?

This adapter is useful in situations such as:

  • Connecting a camera to a 2-inch focuser with an M48 thread
  • Using a field flattener or corrector that ends in an M48 thread
  • Building a compact imaging train where every millimetre of back focus matters
  • Any setup where you need a reliable M48-to-T2 connection without adding unwanted length

Why back focus matters

When using a field flattener or corrector, the camera sensor must sit at a specific distance from the optical element. Even a few extra millimetres can cause blurry stars at the edges of the frame. The 1.5 mm optical length of this adapter keeps that distance as close to zero as possible, giving you the flexibility to fine-tune your setup without compromise.
