Omegon GUIDE 2000 M Mono - monochrome astronomy camera

The Omegon GUIDE 2000 M Mono is built primarily as a reliable autoguiding camera - but it offers more than that. Its sensitive Sony IMX290 sensor and Full HD resolution let you capture surface detail on the Moon, bright planets, and lighter deep-sky objects. If you are just starting out with astrophotography and need a working guide camera at the same time, this is a practical, cost-effective solution in a single body. The monochrome sensor delivers noticeably better light sensitivity than colour alternatives, which makes a real difference both in guiding and when imaging fainter targets.

Sony IMX290 sensor - high sensitivity, low noise

The monochrome sensor at the heart of this autoguiding camera is the CMOS Sony IMX290 - well known in the astronomy community for its high sensitivity and low noise. The chip measures 5.6 x 3.1 mm with a 6.4 mm diagonal, and offers a resolution of 1936 x 1096 pixels (2.1 MP) with a pixel size of 2.9 µm. A 12-bit depth provides enough dynamic range to capture subtle differences in brightness - exactly what you need for accurate guiding. The camera runs at 15 frames per second at full resolution, so your guiding software receives current data without unnecessary delay. Digital binning in 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 modes lets you trade resolution for sensitivity - a useful option when guiding on fainter stars.

Standard 1.25″ connection - fits most setups

The camera connects to your telescope or guide scope via a standard 1.25″ adapter, so it fits the vast majority of finderscopes and guide scopes without any additional adapters. A built-in 1.25″ filter thread is part of the design - handy when using a light-pollution filter to protect the sensor, or when experimenting with an H-alpha filter in heavily light-polluted skies. The flange distance of 17.5 mm meets the typical requirements of compact guiding setups. The aluminium body weighs just 90 g and measures 71 x 39 mm, so it places no meaningful strain on your mount.

USB 2.0 and ST4 - straightforward connection

The camera connects to your computer via USB 2.0 and also features an ST4 port for direct connection to your mount - both cables are included in the box. The Omegon GUIDE 2000 M Mono is fully compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10, and Linux and macOS users can control it through the INDI interface. Power comes entirely from USB, so no external power source is needed. Software is included in the package. The operating temperature range of -10 °C to +50 °C covers virtually every condition you are likely to encounter under an open sky.

Who is this camera for?

The Omegon GUIDE 2000 M Mono is a well-considered choice for anyone looking for a compact, lightweight camera that can serve as both a guide camera and a starting point for astrophotography. The proven Sony sensor, solid aluminium body, and straightforward USB and ST4 connectivity make it a tool you can rely on session after session.
