Binorum Bahtinov Mask 160-200 mm
Precise focus is essential in astrophotography. Even a small error will noticeably reduce the quality of your images. The Binorum Bahtinov Mask solves this problem quickly and reliably. The plastic mask fits over the front of your telescope and uses its characteristic grid pattern to achieve focus with a level of accuracy that neither the naked eye nor autofocus can match. It is designed for telescopes with an objective diameter of 160 to 200 mm.
How to use the Bahtinov mask
Using the mask is straightforward. Follow these steps:
- Place the mask over the front of your telescope.
- Point the telescope at a bright star.
- Switch your camera to live view mode and watch the star on the screen.
- If the image is not in focus, the central line of the Bahtinov grid will appear shifted relative to the two outer lines.
- Adjust the focuser until the central line sits exactly between the two outer lines - at that point, optimal telescope focus is achieved.
- Remove the mask and begin your exposure of the target object.
