Omegon Super Plössl 4mm 52° 1.25″ Eyepiece

The Omegon Super Plössl is a classic Plössl-design eyepiece with a 52° field of view. It suits everyday use and works with any telescope. It is one of the most affordable choices on the market - yet image quality does not suffer. Super Plössl eyepieces have served generations of amateur astronomers, and their lasting popularity comes down to one thing: a well-designed lens system that delivers sharp, high-contrast views at a fair price.

A clear step above the standard eyepiece

Compared to the eyepiece supplied with most new telescopes, the Super Plössl offers a noticeably better result. Its 52° field of view is considerably wider than that of Kellner or standard Plössl designs. Looking through it feels like looking through a wide, open window - not a narrow tunnel. Anyone who observes star clusters, planetary nebulae, or pushes their telescope to its limits will appreciate the difference. The rubber roll-down eyecup effectively blocks stray light from the surroundings.

Better coating, better contrast

The edges of the lenses are blackened to prevent internal reflections inside the eyepiece. Combined with anti-reflection coatings, this ensures that light travels exactly where it should - to your eye. The result is higher colour contrast whether you are viewing bright objects or hunting for faint ones. Think of the transparent spiral arms of galaxy M51, or a planet observed right at the resolution limit of your telescope.

Nine focal lengths, one standard fit

Super Plössl eyepieces are available in nine focal lengths, from 4 mm to 40 mm. All are parfocal - when you swap one eyepiece for another, you do not need to refocus every time. The 1.25″ barrel is compatible with all standard telescope focusers.

Key features at a glance

Who is this eyepiece for?

The Super Plössl 4 mm suits any astronomer who wants reliable, high-magnification views without spending a lot. It is an excellent first upgrade from a stock eyepiece. More experienced observers will value it as a dependable high-power option in their kit. At 4 mm, it delivers high magnification - perfect for studying the Moon, planets, and tight double stars.

Why choose the Super Plössl?

The Plössl design has been trusted in amateur astronomy for decades. The Super Plössl improves on the classic formula with better coatings and a wider field of view. It gives you more of the sky and more of the detail - at a price that makes sense whether you are just starting out or adding to an existing collection of eyepieces.
