Delta Optical Discovery 90 10x-40x Stereo Microscope
The Discovery 90 is the latest addition to the Delta Optical stereo microscope range - and it is clearly a well-thought-out instrument. A triple rotating turret lets you switch instantly between 10x, 20x and 40x magnification without changing eyepieces or adjusting any settings. This is especially useful when you want to scan a larger area of a sample first and then zoom in on a specific detail. Three magnification steps make the Discovery 90 a genuinely versatile tool - suitable for quick orientation on a specimen as well as more precise analysis of fine structures.
Dual LED illumination
The Discovery 90 features both top and bottom LED light sources. You can use them together or independently, and the brightness of each is fully adjustable. This makes it easy to adapt the lighting to whatever you are examining - transparent specimens benefit from transmitted light from below, while opaque surfaces such as minerals or electronic components need reflected light from above.
A built-in battery module powers the microscope for at least 12 hours without mains electricity. You can take it into the field, carry it into a classroom, or use it at a desk with no power socket nearby. The ergonomic stand includes a dedicated carry handle, so you can move the microscope without putting it down - just grip and go.
Camera connection
The Discovery 90 accepts an optional 30.5 mm adapter, which allows you to connect a digital eyepiece camera or a dedicated microscope camera to one of the eyepiece tubes. This opens up photography and video recording of everything you observe - a real advantage for teaching, scientific documentation, or simply sharing interesting finds with others. Images and footage transfer easily to a computer for further processing or presentation.
Who is this microscope for?
The combination of an affordable price, a robust build, and a wide magnification range makes the Discovery 90 useful in several different settings:
- Schools - pupils and teachers alike will appreciate the intuitive controls and durable construction.
- Hobbyists - nature enthusiasts, mineral collectors, and model makers can use it at home or in the workshop.
- Light industry - ideal for inspecting surfaces, solder joints, and small mechanical parts.
Coarse focusing via a rack-and-pinion macro slider gives smooth, precise movement when searching for the ideal focal length.
