Delta Optical Discovery L 5x-20x Stereo Microscope
The Delta Optical Discovery L is designed for those who do not just observe under a microscope - they actively work. Whether you use a soldering iron, tweezers, a scalpel, or fine precision tools, this microscope gives you the space and clarity you need. The large working distance of 230-250 mm leaves plenty of room for your hands and tools beneath the head. The stand with an adjustable arm lets you position even larger objects underneath - such as full-size motherboards or complex mechanical assemblies.
The flexible-neck LED light lets you aim illumination exactly where it is needed and fine-tune the angle of incidence. This is particularly useful when searching for micro-cracks, inspecting solder joints, or examining narrow gaps and openings. The Discovery L is an excellent choice for electronics service workshops, laboratories, and any environment where precision and detail matter.
Optics and magnification
The Delta Optical Discovery L stereo microscope comes with two objectives (0.5x and 1x) and two pairs of eyepieces (10x and 20x). Together they provide four magnification combinations: 5x, 10x, and 20x.
The binocular head is inclined at 45°, which reduces strain on your neck and back during long working sessions. The interpupillary distance adjusts smoothly across a 55-75 mm range. The left eyepiece offers dioptre correction of +/-5 D, so users with different vision conditions can work comfortably without wearing glasses.
The depth of field and optical quality keep the image readable even when a tool moves through the field of view.
Field of view
The field of view ranges from 10 to 36 mm depending on the chosen combination of objective and eyepiece. The table below shows the precise values:

Illumination and focusing
The Discovery L works in reflected light, which makes it suited for opaque objects - exactly the kind of work found in electronics and precision mechanics. You can aim the flexible-neck LED light precisely where needed, giving you full control over contrast and the visibility of surface details.
This flexibility is especially valuable when inspecting solder joint quality. Angled side lighting reveals cold joints or excess solder far more effectively than direct illumination.
Focusing is handled by dual coaxial coarse adjustment knobs on both sides of the body. Operation is quick and ergonomic whether you work with your right or left hand.
Camera compatibility and power
An optional 30 mm or 30.5 mm adapter lets you fit a digital eyepiece camera or a professional microscope camera into one of the eyepiece tubes. This opens the door to photo and video documentation - recording work procedures, archiving quality control results, or sharing footage with your team.
The camera does not affect the other eyepiece, so observation continues without interruption. The microscope runs on an AC mains adapter, eliminating any concerns about battery life during a full day of work.
