Omegon Cronus WA 3.2mm 60° 1.25″ Eyepiece
Many entry-level telescopes come with eyepieces that hold the optics back rather than bring out their best. The Cronus takes a different approach. It offers comfortable viewing, a genuinely wide field of view and forgiving behaviour when your eye is not perfectly centred - exactly what you need when you are hunting Saturn for the first time or trying to keep a galaxy in the middle of the image.
Wide field of view - see more in every session
The Omegon Cronus wide-angle eyepiece delivers a 60° field of view - roughly one third wider than a standard Kellner eyepiece. In practice, larger objects fit comfortably into the frame. Open star clusters, extended nebulae and Jupiter with its moons all appear in full, without cropping.
Comfortable viewing - even with glasses
The eye relief is 16mm across the entire focal length range of the series. This generous distance means you can observe comfortably while wearing glasses, without pressing your eye against the lens. The eyecup also folds up or down to suit your preference.
Reduced kidney-bean effect
With many eyepieces, even a small shift of your eye away from the centre causes dark shadows to creep across the edge of the image - the so-called kidney-bean effect. The Cronus is significantly less prone to this problem. Beginners who have not yet developed the habit of precise eye positioning will notice the difference at every session.
Anti-reflection coatings for sharp, high-contrast images
Anti-reflection coatings are applied to every air-to-glass surface. Contrast and sharpness remain high even when you are looking at faint objects - a clear advantage for deep-sky work.
Planets and deep sky - one eyepiece, many targets
Under good conditions, Jupiter reveals its Great Red Spot - a storm twice the diameter of Earth that has persisted for at least 300 years. Saturn and its ring system is a view you will not forget. Beyond the solar system, globular clusters, emission nebulae and distant galaxies all await. This eyepiece for planets and deep-sky observing handles every one of these targets with sufficient contrast and sharpness.
Part of a consistent optical family
The Cronus range is available in eight focal lengths. The shorter focal lengths are spaced at fine intervals, giving you precise control over magnification. Owning a full set from one optical family means consistent behaviour, the same build quality throughout and easy switching between magnifications - no need to adapt to a different eyepiece design each time.

Who is this eyepiece for?
The Omegon Cronus 3.2mm eyepiece suits beginners who want a wide, comfortable view from the very first session. It also works well for experienced observers who value consistent optical quality across a matched set of eyepieces. If you observe planets, star clusters or galaxies and want high contrast without the frustration of the kidney-bean effect, the Cronus is a practical and reliable choice.
