Omegon Cronus WA 8mm 60° 1.25″ Eyepiece
Many entry-level telescopes come with eyepieces that do not make the most of the instrument's optics. The image is average, the field of view is narrow, and observing becomes frustrating rather than enjoyable. The Omegon Cronus eyepieces are designed to fix exactly that - they deliver noticeably better optical performance at a reasonable price, with no unnecessary complexity.
Comfortable viewing - even with glasses
The 16mm eye relief means you do not need to press your eye close to the eyepiece. Simply bring your eye near in a natural position and the full image is there in front of you. Most standard eyepieces in this class do not offer such generous eye relief. The Omegon Cronus is therefore a practical choice for eyeglass wearers, and the eyecup folds down when needed.
A wider view of the sky
The 60° field of view shows significantly more than a standard Kellner eyepiece. Compared to those, you see up to one third more of the sky at once. This makes a real difference when observing large objects such as open star clusters or extended nebulae that simply do not fit within a narrower field of view.
No distracting shadows at the edge
With many eyepieces, even a slight shift of the eye away from the centre causes dark shadows to creep in from the edge. For beginners who have not yet developed the habit of looking through the exact optical centre, this can be quite distracting. The Cronus eyepieces resist this effect - the image stays clean even when your eye moves slightly off axis.
What can you observe with this eyepiece?
The Great Red Spot on Jupiter - a storm that has lasted at least 300 years and spans more than twice the diameter of the Earth - is a rewarding target with this eyepiece. Saturn with its ring system is one of those first sights that stays with an observer for life. Beyond the Solar System, the Cronus eyepiece performs well on globular clusters, emission nebulae, and distant galaxies, where contrast and sharpness are essential.
A complete set from a single series
The Cronus range is available in eight focal lengths. The shorter focal lengths are spaced at very fine intervals, so you can build a complete set within a single series - with consistent design, dimensions, and optical character throughout.
