Omegon Premium Zoom 7.2-21.5mm 40°-53° 1.25" Eyepiece

A zoom eyepiece is one of the most practical accessories you can add to any telescope - and the Omegon Premium Zoom sets a high bar for what a zoom eyepiece can deliver. One turn of the ring takes you continuously from 21.5mm down to 7.2mm, covering a magnification range that would otherwise require three or four separate eyepieces. The object stays centred in the field of view throughout the entire adjustment, so you can dial in the perfect magnification without ever losing your target.

Optical quality - exceptional sharpness to the field edge

The moment a planet or deep-sky object appears in the field, the first thing you notice is the sharpness. The Premium Zoom is built around a 7-element, 4-group optical design that delivers image quality comparable to fixed focal length eyepieces - not the usual compromise associated with zoom optics. Contrast and edge sharpness are maintained across the full zoom range, from the wide 53° field at 21.5mm down to the tighter 40° field at 7.2mm. All optical surfaces carry multi-layer anti-reflection coatings to maximise light transmission and suppress internal reflections that would otherwise reduce contrast.

Anti-glare baffles for maximum contrast

Internal baffles are positioned throughout the optical path to intercept stray light before it reaches the eye. This is especially important in zoom eyepieces, where the larger number of optical elements creates more potential surfaces for unwanted reflections. The result is a darker background sky and better separation between faint details and their surroundings - something you will notice immediately when observing planetary cloud belts or the structure of a globular cluster.

Smooth zoom with marked focal lengths

The zoom ring is fitted with an anti-slip grip and carries clearly marked focal length values with an indicator arrow, so you always know exactly which focal length is set. There is no guesswork and no need to memorise positions. The ring moves smoothly and holds its position without creeping, which means the magnification stays locked while you observe rather than drifting under the weight of the eyepiece.

Three-position adjustable eyecup

The rubber eyecup adjusts in three distinct steps to suit individual preferences. Eyeglass wearers can fold it down to its lowest position and observe comfortably with spectacles on, still seeing the full 15mm eye relief without vignetting. Observers without glasses can raise it to create a natural eye shield against ambient light. The eyecup holds its selected position securely during use.
