Omegon Cronus WA 5mm 60° 1.25″ Eyepiece
Most entry-level telescopes come with basic eyepieces that do not do the optics justice. The Cronus is designed differently. It offers comfortable viewing, a wide field of view, and qualities you will notice from the very first look at Saturn or Jupiter. A night at the telescope with a good eyepiece is an experience you will not forget.
Comfortable viewing at every focal length
The Omegon Cronus WA 5mm eyepiece provides 16mm of eye relief at all focal lengths. This is not a standard feature on most eyepiece designs. Your eye does not need to press tightly against the eyepiece - observing feels relaxed and stays comfortable over long sessions. The Cronus is fully suitable for eyeglass wearers, and the eyecup can be folded up as needed.
A wider view of the sky
The Cronus offers a 60° field of view - roughly one third wider than the standard Kellner eyepieces supplied with many telescopes. You notice the difference straight away. Large objects such as star clusters and nebulae fit into the field of view in their entirety, with no need to move the telescope.
No more blackouts at the edge of the field
Many eyepieces suffer from an unpleasant effect: as soon as you look even slightly off-centre, dark shadows appear in the field of view. For beginners, keeping the eye perfectly centred is difficult, and this makes observing frustrating. The Cronus is designed so that this effect is virtually eliminated. The view stays clean even when your eye is not perfectly aligned.
Planets, star clusters and distant galaxies
The 5mm focal length makes the Cronus a tool for detailed observation of planets and compact deep-sky objects. On Jupiter, you can make out the Great Red Spot - a feature twice the diameter of the Earth that has existed on the largest planet in the solar system for at least 300 years. A first view of Saturn and its ring system is one of those moments most astronomers remember for the rest of their lives. The Cronus also lets you observe objects beyond the solar system: globular clusters, hydrogen nebulae and distant galaxies.
A complete series with consistent quality
The Cronus is available in eight focal lengths, with particularly fine steps between the shorter options. Using eyepieces from the same series gives you consistent image quality and a familiar feel as you move between magnifications. Omegon Cronus eyepieces carry anti-reflection coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces, which keeps contrast and sharpness high even in demanding observing conditions.

Who is this eyepiece for?
Beginners upgrading their first telescope
If your telescope came with a basic eyepiece, the Cronus is a straightforward upgrade. The wider field of view and improved eye comfort make a noticeable difference from the first session.
Observers who wear glasses
The 16mm eye relief means you can observe comfortably with your glasses on. The fold-down eyecup adjusts to suit you.
Planetary and deep-sky observers
The 5mm focal length is well suited to high-magnification planetary work - Jupiter's cloud bands, Saturn's rings - as well as compact deep-sky targets such as globular clusters and small galaxies.
