Omegon Redline SW 5mm 70° 1.25″ Eyepiece
Your eyepiece determines what you actually see. A poor-quality eyepiece turns the cloud bands of Jupiter into a blurry smudge - and the observing session you looked forward to becomes a disappointment. The Omegon Redline SWA 70° series with ED optics prevents exactly that. A built-in ED optical element maintains high contrast and suppresses chromatic aberration, so the image stays sharp and colour-accurate from the centre to the very edge of the field of view.
Clear, deep views from the first look
From your very first look through this eyepiece, you will notice the depth and clarity of the image. Excellent contrast lets you resolve fine structures in Jupiter's atmosphere, distinguish subtle colour differences on planetary surfaces, and follow fainter deep-sky objects. That sharpness holds even in fast Newton telescopes at f/5 - a focal ratio where many eyepieces fail at the edges of the field of view.
70-degree field of view - comfortable and natural
A 70-degree field of view is not just a marketing figure. It is the angle at which the human eye works naturally and without strain. Large objects fit into the frame completely, and observing does not feel like peering through a narrow tube.
The 20mm eye relief adds a comfortable distance between your eye and the eyepiece barrel. This eyepiece suits eyeglass wearers - the full field of view remains visible even through corrective lenses. If your glasses correct astigmatism, keeping them on during observing is actually an advantage.
M43 thread for projection astrophotography
Under the rubber eye guard sits an M43 thread. It turns this eyepiece into a starting point for projection astrophotography. Using an M43-T2 adapter, you can attach a DSLR or compact camera and capture planets and planetary nebulae. No other comparable eyepiece series offers this feature.
Dual barrel - fits both 1.25″ and 2″ focusers
Omegon Redline eyepieces in focal lengths from 3.5mm to 17mm feature a dual barrel: 1.25″ and 2″. The 2″ barrel sits directly above the 1.25″ barrel, so the eyepiece works in both focuser sizes without any adapter changes. The 22mm and 32mm versions come with a 2″ barrel only, making full use of the larger light path that format allows.
A complete series - seven focal lengths
The Omegon Redline series covers seven focal lengths: 3.5mm, 5mm, 8mm, 13mm, 17mm, 22mm and 32mm. The eyepieces are nearly parfocal - when you swap between them, you rarely need to refocus. Colour-anodised rings make each focal length easy to identify even in the dark. The rubberised body gives a secure grip, even with gloves on.
Who is this eyepiece for?
The Omegon Redline SWA 70° is the right choice for observers who refuse to compromise on contrast, sharpness or comfort - whether they are studying planets, exploring nebulae, or reaching for a camera.
