TS Optics 2″/SC Adapter (Rotation System)
This adapter connects the 2″ system to an SCT telescope connection and forms a fully integrated part of the TS Optics Rotation System. On the telescope side, it features a 2″ dovetail ring and an internal M42x0.75 thread for 2″ filters. On the camera side, it carries the standard SCT Meade/Celestron UN 2″-24 thread. This lets you attach a wide range of SCT accessories to your telescope - camera adapters, focal reducers, and other components. The adapter is built with a minimal optical length, so it will not compromise back focus even in demanding setups.
What is the TS Optics Rotation System?
The TS Optics Rotation System is more than just another adapter. It is a carefully designed platform that solves a range of practical problems in both astrophotography and visual astronomy.
Every element in the system shares a 2″ connector, which also allows 2″ filters to be integrated directly into the optical path. The tapered dovetail connection provides automatic centring and self-locking - the adapter tightens by itself and cannot shift or tilt. The entire system is kept as compact as possible, so reaching focus remains achievable even in setups with limited back focus margin.
360° rotation - adjust without disassembly
One of the most useful features for any astrophotographer is smooth 360° rotation. You can rotate your camera or eyepiece to any position at any time, without having to rebuild the whole setup. The connectors on the telescope side and on the eyepiece or camera side can be freely combined and swapped in any direction, depending on what you need at the moment.
Practical applications
There are many situations where the Rotation System makes a real difference:
- Placing 2″ filters between a telephoto lens and a camera in a space-saving way - for example, when working with Rubinar 300, 500 or MTO 1000 lenses. The system lets you set them up for filtered imaging without complex modifications.
- Modern field correctors with a longer distance from the connecting thread (M48 or SC) to the sensor plane benefit from the system as well - it provides an elegant way to rotate and adapt the connection in a single step.
- Quick camera release is another highly valued feature. Disconnecting the camera in the field - for example, to change batteries - takes just a few seconds. There is no need to unscrew anything slowly.
- An adapter with a 2″ filter attached can remain in front of the camera permanently, protecting the camera body from dust.
- The system can also be placed behind the SC thread to protect the interior of the telescope, with the option to add a 2″ IR or UV filter.
Built from real experience
The TS Optics Rotation System was developed by amateur astronomers for amateur astronomers. These solutions come from practical experience at the telescope - not from a drawing board.
