TS Optics T2/2″ Adapter (Rotation System)
This adapter converts an internal T2 thread (M42x0.75) to a 2″ barrel. It works as part of the modular TS Rotation System and connects to any adapter or focuser with a T2 thread. Whether you are working with a camera, an eyepiece, or filters, this adapter gives you a flexible yet stable connection - and a natural starting point for building your optical chain.
What is the TS Rotation System?
The TS Rotation System is a well-thought-out approach to connecting optical components. It goes well beyond simple threaded reducers. Every element in the system includes a 2″ connector, so you keep full compatibility no matter how you combine the parts.
Key features of the system:
- Every connection point includes a built-in 2″ filter thread - you can add a filter anywhere in the chain without extra adapters.
- The system is designed to keep the overall length as short as possible. This means the focal point stays reachable even on telescopes with limited focuser travel.
- A dovetail ring mechanism provides self-centring and locking when you attach a component. This eliminates tilt and play that would otherwise reduce image sharpness.
- 360-degree rotation lets you turn a camera or eyepiece to any position - useful for levelling the horizon in astrophotography, or simply placing the eyepiece at a comfortable angle for visual observing.
How to use the system
The connectors on the telescope side are on one end, and the connectors for the eyepiece or camera are on the other. You can combine individual elements freely and reverse the direction of connection as needed. At every point in the chain, the 2″ filter connection remains available.
Practical uses
This adapter works across a wide range of astrophotography and visual observing setups. Here are some typical examples:
- Place a 2″ filter between a telephoto lens or telescope and your camera. This works particularly well with lenses such as the Rubinar 300, 500, or MTO 1000 (Mak 1000) - an elegant way to shoot with filters without adding bulky extra parts.
- Use it with a modern field corrector that has a longer thread-to-camera-plane distance (M48, SC thread). The adapter provides a compact solution for both rotation and adaptation in one step.
- Disconnect your camera from the telescope quickly - for example, when you need to change batteries. Instead of unscrewing multiple threads, the whole process takes only a few seconds.
- Leave the adapter permanently attached in front of the camera body to protect the mount from dust and dirt.
- When placed behind an SC thread, the adapter protects the inside of the telescope and allows you to insert a 2″ IR or UV filter at the same time.
As the manufacturer notes, these solutions come directly from real observing practice - the system was developed by amateur astronomers for amateur astronomers.
